need nm-applet icon in tray

Since installing NetworkManager, its icon appeared in the top panel of my own login. But other users in group wheel with su privileges need it to appear in their panel as well. How to get it there?
Thanks.

Sounds like you're running as root. No need to run as root. And no need to use su. Bad.

Just start nm-applet in user session as a normal user, not root, in gnome go to System->Preferences->Personal->Sessions. On FC8 this is the default behavior.

Thanks for replying. I am running F8.
The solution I found, just for the record if anyone else runs into this, is that it seems a notification area icon needs to be in the panel for the nm-applet to appear there, even though NetworkManager was active. As soon as it was placed, the nm-applet appeared next login.
