Java install problem- Unofficial Fedora FAQ

I am trying to install Java as per the Unofficial Fedora FAQ.
http://www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware

I am on step 5.9. When I run it I get an error.

# yumdownloader --enablerepo=jpackage-nonfree java-1.6.0-sun
Loading "priorities" plugin
Cannot handle specific enablerepo/disablerepo options.

How do I fix this ?

Thanks

Works for me:

Quote:
[root@localhost bob1]# yumdownloader --enablerepo=jpackage-nonfree java-1.6.0-sun
Loading "priorities" plugin
Loading "skip-broken" plugin
46 packages excluded due to repository priority protections
java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.3-1j 100% |=========================| 17 kB 00:00
Did you set up your repos with his yum.conf (see 2.6)

Just as info, but instead of this plugin, have you tried the 'icedtea' version which works for most things? See the News story about it: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=173680

I did perform step 2.6.

I am not seeing the "Loading skip broken" step. I'll check that out.

I am doing Java development. I'd rather use the Sun version of Java right now.

The 'skip-broken' is a plugin that isn't involved in this problem, so ignore that one. Check your /etc/yum.repos.d and make sure you've got jpackage listed as a repo.

Interesting! I checked the jpackage repository and with yum and I'm finding java-1.5.0 but not 1.6.0:

Note that if you're using an old version of my yum configuration, it has the wrong JPackage URLs.

What is your overall goal?
Java? Tomcat? or JRE?
What distro are you running?
If your running fc8. Good luck.
I used fc7 and install the binary JDK with Netbeans then
I set the classpath in /etc/profile.

I installed fc8 and renstalled fc7 due to the Java problem with fc8.

Let me know if you need help.

I'm using the version that is on the FAQ and I'm having the same problem as the other guy here.

Hm, I'm having the exact same problem. I'm working in Fedora 7 (I can't upgrade to 8 because of the upgrade hang bug, still looking for a way to fix that). I followed all the steps in the FAQ and I'm still getting
Code:
No Match for argument java-1.6.0-sun
I'm getting desperate, but no luck with any of
Code:
java-1.6.0-sun
java-1.6.0
java-1.5.0-sun
java-1.5.0
Any ideas?

I've been using this method to give GCJ and Iced tea the boot for quite a while and it still works great.
