Sony Vaio instant mode (A/V mode) and built in camera

Hi all,

I'm about to install fedora 8 on a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ240e/b that came with vista preinstalled and would like to keep instant mode (A/V mode). This nice feature of sony laptops allows one to play cd's and dvd's and view images without booting windows. Apparently it sits on a separate partition from the windows c: drive. I've found a document explaining how to install suse on a different model (sony vaio TXN25): http://www.hermit.org/Linux/SonyTXNInstant.html and was wondering if any of you guys had any experiences with the more recent FZ series.

In addition I would like to keep using the built in camera from linux. Anyone managed to do that?

Thanks a lot for any tips and advice.
