Problem w/Fedora 8 Installation on Thinkpad T43

Hi,

I'm new to GNU/Linux and need some help. I downloaded the i386 Install DVD (md5sum O.K./the DVD-R passed the DVD-check) and was able to install Fedora 8 as a virtual machine in VirtualBox from the DVD-R. However, installation on my Thinkpad T43 fails - after I skip the CD-check the installation doesn't proceed. No error messages on the F3/F4 screens.

Any advice welcome. Thank you very much!

kki

First, I would double-check the functionality of the DVD/CD Drive in the laptop with another CD (Just to make sure).

Secondly, you may want to try some additional boot options such as "acpi=off" or "noapic" to see if those help.

When the first screen comes up asking what you want it to do, hit Tab, enter a space, type lowres , then enter. Then it'll work.

Thanks very much to both of you! Adding options
Code:
text lowres acpi=off noapic
solved the problem.

Glad you're sorted now!
Just for interest, I re-installed on my computer from the DVD but used "medres", that worked too.
