USB Mouse is not detected on startup

I have a Logitech USB Mouse and MSI (don't know how to look more specifically under linux - advice needed) motherboard, and when I boot onto my Fedora 8, the mouse isn't working. To fix that, I've to re-plug the mouse into USB and then it works.
It's really annoying, help is needed...

did the mouse work during the install?

have you updated the kernel since then?

Yes, it did work. It worked with Live CD too.
I updated kernel yesterday, but it didn't change anything

try reinstalling the original kernel rpm from the install disc, use 'rpm --force -ihv'
then select that kernel from the grub boot menu

Mouse not working

I have about the same trouble. Yesterday I installed FC 8 on an IBM T60. The mouse worked after the install. I updated about 365 packages today. After a reboot the mouse stopped working.

It used to be that the mouse pointer was movable during the boot process so one can select Detail an see the boot messages. Now this does not work too.

If I check cat /dev/input/mice I get some random chars on my tty (as expected I would say). However the mouse pointer remains in the center of the screen in X/Gnome. I checked /var/log/messages and Xorg.0.log. I could not see anything peculiar. In xorg.0.log i saw that it is using /device/input/mice and setting the protocol to ExplorerPS/2.

Any ideas?
