Host WinXp/Pro guest VMWare Server / Fedoro 6/ Bridge Networking Not Working

I Installed Fedora 6 on the virtual machine created using VMware Server. My host OS is Windows XP Pro. w/ SP2. The ethernet card on the virtual machine is set to "Brideged".

Running ipconfig From the host machine will return the following -

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Belkin
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.5
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

Ethernet adapter VMware Network Adapter VMnet1:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.64.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Ethernet adapter VMware Network Adapter VMnet8:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.44.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

However, I got error "Determining IP information for eth0...failed" when starting Fedora7. Then eth0 is inactive. And trying to activate it will get the same error. Searched the knowledge base and tried to editing the following 3 files as suggested still gave me the same error -

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/networking/device/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0

As a result, from the virtual machine I can ping nothing but the loopback 127.0.0.1 or localhost.

Any help appreciated.
