SDL doesn't work

I can't get Enigma to work because SDL doesn't recognize my video card. I built it myself (after installing a bunch of libraries) and it compiled and installed without a hitch. However, when I try to run it, I get the following error:
Code:
Couldn't initialize SDL: No available video device
So it's not a game problem, it's an SDL problem. This means I can't run anything that uses SDL. It doesn't like my crappy video chipset apparently. It's a Silicon Integrated Systems brand.

It seems my problem has fallen on deaf ears. If you can't solve my problem, could you please point me to a forum that can?
