wierd keyboard issues f8

I just did a fresh install of f8 and I'm having some weird keyboard issues. I selected US English keyboard config but, I can't get to any terminals using ctl-alt combination and the "-" seems to be not working on the main keyboard. the - works fine on the numberpad.
