Exclamation Sony camcorder wont work!

Hi

Does anybody have success in grabbing video from a sony DCR-HC48 Camcorder??

My firewire card is installed and working properly

please help me!!

my only working solution is to use a windoze box to import and use SFTP to move the files

Kino will not see the camcorder

Talking I May have a Solution

I think all that I need is the raw1394 module created.

It does not exist in modprobe

how do I create it??

Angry Still only me

Kino will see the camcorder. In the capture screen it says:

WARNING! raw1394 kernel module not loaded or failure to read/write /dev/raw1394
When I do modprobe--


[daniel@localhost ~]$ /sbin/modprobe /dev/raw1394
FATAL: Module /dev/raw1394 not found.

Hello:

I believe you will need to install the matching ieee1394 kernel module from atrpms, then modprobe ieee1394 and you should be good to go.

I have tried it before

It makes me go one step behind
If I do that--I loose the recoginition of the camera in kino
In any event, the raw1394 module is the complaint of the season

There are big changes in FireWire handling in recent kernels (2.6.22+). I posted some info in a different thread.
