Does compiz works on Fedora 8 and ATI HD2600 PRO?

Sorry.
May be my question isn't very much in theme with the thread but i'm experiencing difficulties in getting Compiz-Fusion up on my Fedora 8/x86_64/iMac/ATI Radeon HD2600 PRO system.
Did anybody around have any success?
I've followed links, posts, threads. Everithing i've done seems to be OK. I have DRI correctly on, glxgears and fgl_glxgears run smoothly. No error by X upon sturtup, but compiz doesn't start. I've tryed with various rpms, obtainig different results (ranging from "segfault", to white screens, going through windows without any border), but nothing.

Any ideas or hints?

Thank you

P.S. the livna driver is the latest (8.42.9), xorg server is 1.3.0.0. According to other posts this should be OK, shouldn't it?

It relates to the fact that you have the wrong driver and the current driver isn't very nice so you have to wait for this months release.

Thanks a lot Strikeforce. You spared me a whole bunch of presumably useless further efforts.
But what do you mean by "wrong driver"? Do you mean the opensource or the propietary one?
Do you recomend the opensource version, as soon as things are fixed up, or the livna one?

Thank again

My workstation has multi-monitors, and I have the same problem as Beglitis in post one; cant configure dualhead support for ATI 9600 Radion card. I don't care about the 3D stuff, only want working multi-monitors - can't function without them. Just upgraded from FC6 - a big mistake - too soon. Seems AMD is a bit tardy at supporting the 2.6..23 kernel (see this wiki link) http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Fed...allation_Guide

Been trying for over a week - livna: NG, dualhead broken - freshrpms: NG, dualhead broken. Yes I know it worked in FC6 & FC7, but boo hoo hoo it's broken in the 8.

Anyone gets dualhead to work, i'd appreciate a heads up.
Thanks all --nybigjet
