Question Network Activity Applet

The network activity applet does not blink when there is activity. Is there some tweaking that makes that blinking work?

I have F7 Gnome installed. I placed the activity icon on the gnome panel. I have another applet that shows shows activity graphically when the window is open and numerically when the window is minimized. Is there another applet that give the same blink functionality that MS Windows provides?

I have the Network Monitor 'Netspeed Applet' added to my top panel for my wireless adapter and I noticed that I needed to select the correct network device before I would see any activity through the monitor.

You have the Netspeed Applet. It shows a numerical speed for upload and download.
I'm talking about the Network Monitor Applet. After a closer look, it does change brightness (in the small blue area). But its not as easily visible as the MS-Windows version. I was hoping for a better.
Anyway thanks very much.
