Fedora 7.92 Rawhide and Fedora Unofficial FAQ
Hello, new to Fedora and have installed the latest Fedora 7.92 Rawhide from the live cd. I have been searching and reading about multimedia support and how to when I stumbled across the The Unofficial Fedora FAQ ( http://www.fedorafaq.org/). My question is, can I use this FAQ with 7.92? I wasn't sure if it would not apply to the newer release.
Thank you!

Morning Perpetual.
Rawhide is bleeding edge stuff. 7.92 is a testing release and therefore community support may still be somewhat spotty. However, that being said, those FAQs (Recently updated for F7) should work for you with suitable adjustments regarding repos.

TangledWeb, thanks for the fast response. I will plead that although I am not new to Linux, used SuSE, Knoppix, PCLOS and lately Ubuntu, the majority of the time I spent with Linux was with PCLOS and Ubuntu. I am wondering now if I shouldn't install Fedora 7 and later upgrade to 8 once I feel a little more comfortable with the distribution.
Yes, I am a newb to a lot of this. Even your statement with suitable adjustments regarding repos makes me wonder if I will get through it
Anyway, I will give it a go and continue to search through the forums and documentation. Thanks again for the response. Looking forward to getting my laptop working with Fedora.
Edit: leigh123@linux thanks for the link. I will read through that as well.

BTW, welcome to the forum! Oh, yeah! You'll get through it!
F7 has hit its "sweet spot" right now. It's half way through its life cycle, and most of the bugs have been worked out. F8 is likely to be a bit dicey for a month or so after its release in the next 10-15 days (depending on slip) so I'd think F7 would be a grand choice!

Ok, I am convinced, I will download and install F7. I assume at some point I will be able to do a dist upgrade to F8 but I will worry about that later.
Thanks!

I have started work on the Fedora 8 guide with links getting updated but I haven't yet tested everything. I'm waiting for the next ati driver to be able to update since fglrx does not work at the moment with the 2.6.23 kernel.

Thanks, look forward to the guide.
Went ahead and installed FC7. Everything has went well, will start on the multimedia stuff as I get time today. Really liking it thus far though.

Here's another good one:

Make sure you start at the beginning with "Setup yum" and "Setup sudo".
Welcome!
