Geez - I wasn't asking to be spoon fed. It just easier to ask those who have already done something on how to do it. A bit more understanding seems to be in order.
Anyhow...

The guide has already come in handy.
Didn't know it existed. Very cool.
I'm a Solaris Sysadmin learning Linux.
There is always more to learn, isn't there?
Do you have screenshots of Beryl and Emerald running?
I'm trying to decide if I want to use that interface.
Thanks.

I no longer use beryl ( all beryl development stopped six months ago when the project was retired ) and have replaced it with compiz-fusion ( beryl and compiz merged to form compiz-fusion )

screenshots of compiz-fusion
P.S there is always more to learn ( I am still learning )

Guys - I thought I had this one nailed but NTFS read/write support is not working upon boot. Here is a copy of my fstab file. What am I doing wrong?
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0 auto 0 0

It depends which NTFS driver you are using.
Using NTFS-3g package my fstab reads
/dev/sda1 /mnt/windows ntfs-3g rw,defaults,0 0
if you installed ntfs3g, you need to specify it like above (not plain ntfs)

Speaking of partitioning...
I was trying to shrink all my partitions on this drive so that I can try another flavor of Linux. However Gparted does not recognize the partition that Fedora set up. Ideas on how to shrink the Fedora partition?

Morning, Kona.
Try here. http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/e...ger/index.html
That should tell you far more than you ever wanted to know about LVM partitions ... including how to shrink one.

Dan - I tried the command to resize a LVM. It didn't recognize the command. Any ideas?

Leigh - thanks for the link but that looks way over my head so I'll wait till I get a bigger hard drive and then I'll partition it out and re-install F7.

Try using normal partitions ( plain EXT3 ) next time you install instead of LVM as they are easier to work with .
LVM is for multi disk servers and is of little use on a single disk desktop .
