Runtime error.

Good morning

I have a wierd problem that when I switch runtime from 5 to 2 to do something, my network screws up when switching back to runtime 5. The harddrive lights in the front of my case never turn off and no networking features work at all. It doesn't do it all the time but a majority of the time when i drop to 2 and back to 5. I get no error messages, the network config says that my card is enabled and working.

Any ideas?

Edit: I am using onboard ethernet on a Epox ep-8npa sli board. nForce 4 NB.

Since runlevel 2 is the same as 3 just without networking, why not just use 3 ?

Or do you have the same problem even then ?

Sorry, there may be a reason you're switching to 2, I've just never needed anything other than 1, 3, 5.

No, the main reason I drop to 2 is because of installing propietary Nvidia drivers. I think three should work since X isn't running. Thanks for the info though I didn't know three had networking.
