Am trying to solve a dependency issue that arose when installing sgi-performer...
I am using FC7 and downloaded all the necessary performer files, ran rpm -Uvh sgi-performer*.rpm and got the following:
> rpm -Uvh sgi-performer*.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is needed by sgi-performer-clipdemos-3.2.4-1.i386
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is needed by sgi-performer-demos-3.2.4-1.i386
I then tried to install only the actual performer files (not need clipdemos or demos to run performer), but get:
> rpm -Uvh sgi-performer-3.2.4-1.i386.rpm
error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000
I tried to find out about libstdc++c6.1.1.so.2 (which I was unable to find on my machine), and found that in order to access libstdc++c6.1.1.so.2 one needs a compat-libstdc++,..I now have compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61
which a website says can coexist simultaneously on one system...(I added the 296-2.96-138 as it is older and thought it might work with the older libstdc :P )
Anyway, either libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 already exists (and is still inaccessible???)
> yum install libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2
Nothing to do
or I need to do something else, as even now when I try to install just the most recent performer.rpm I still get the message that libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is not available.
> yum whatprovides libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2
No Matches found
I recently read:
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is a link to /usr/lib/libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so which was installed by the RPM package compat-libstdc++-6.2-188.8.131.52 </unquote>
do i yum install compat libstdc++-6.2-184.108.40.206?
I am not sure exactly what to try next...
SGI is no longer supporting Performer (their guru has moved on) and I have seen only defunct performer lists and forums online so far...
If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this dependency issue (or knows what is going on), thanks in advance for any help on this
