I tried running FC8t3live cd on virtual box and it took a whole lot of time to boot. I had given 512 mb to it. Any one noticed something similar? I did not give it a HDD. Just a CD as ISO and booted off it.

my machine is a p4 3gz, 2gb ram.

Just a tip , I note that you had difficulty with building fglrx !! , why build it when it's available from livna development ? ( as is ndiswrapper , madwifi , ntfs & nvidia )

Nice review and wireless info. Searching the ndiswrapper wiki by pciid seems useless if you're running the 64-bit version of Fedora though. Despite having the most common Broadcom on the list, pciid 14e4:4320, I can't locate a 64-bit driver. Also disappointing the native driver in F8 doesn't work with a chip it appears virtually everyone with an HP/Compaq uses. :|

I feel bad for Red Hat in a way. I'm still running FC5 on my Atheros chipset laptop and it's sitting right next to my RaLink wifi F8 desktop and in all honesty I think the network manager applet in gnome not only hasn't improved, it's actually gotten worse in the last year and a half. Compared to other distros like Mandriva One, which includes MadWiFi and enables WPA out-of-the-box, it's really somewhat embarrassing.

My tower was using the direct connection at the time. So, when I switched from cable internet to DSL, I didn't get any Atheros wireless drivers so now I need to get them on a thumb drive. I'm using a D-Link DWL-510 wireless nic in my Fedora 7 PC tower system.

Anybody know how I can get this working? I tried Fedora 8 livecd and it didn't pick up the wireless nic either.

Thnx.
