Ftp problem

My server is Fedora core 4 and I'm using vsftp.

This is driving me nuts: I can connect fine for maybe an hour and upload files then suddenly I can't. The "can't" might last an hour or so then I can connect and upload files fine.

How can I troubleshoot and fix this?
