New Mainboard & CPU with old sytem?

Hello everybody,

I'll have to by a new mainboard and perhaps also a new CPU. But, I have quite a lot of programms installed and i don't want to reinstall and reconfigure them all again. But would it work, if I would replace the mainbord (and the CPU) without reinstalling Fedora? Would the system still work? An if not, would it work If i'll make an update form DVD (from F7 to F8)?
Or do you know any other posibillitys?

Greetings form Munich (Germany),
Michi

I have taken a hard drive with FC6 installed and have used it in 3 different computers. I just unplugged it and placed it in the other computers and it booted to a login screen. The computers all had Intel cpu's, P3, P4 and Celeron.

Only one way to find out for sure. I would not attach any extra drives internal or external or any other devices that weren't present during the original install.
