Hmmmm.
It would appear that those at Microsoft who managed to read the writing on the wall ... and then managed to get themselves heard ... and then managed to subjugate Novel ... were right. However, as I gaze deeply into my rather murky crystal ball, unless they change their ways, (and a whole lot about Vista) Methinks I foresee Microsoft's eventual future.

The whole "work together" is sooooo ethereal, that I wonder what specifically are they talking about? Do they mean interoperable as in "run the same applications, unmodified?" (which would explain the efforts behind Mono and .NET 2 and 3), or interoperable as in "talk to each other over the network and share and distribute load, resources, etc?" or what? Most of this has already been possible to do (albeit it required a bit of tweaking here and there, but doable, nonetheless). Microsoft should focus on getting NT to really be POSIX compliant and not the lame excuse it is today.
