Problem with my Toshiba Satellite A100-436 & FC7

On the first I wanna to sorry for my English.
I still learning, and with my grammar and spelling are still some problems.
So sorry for that.

Now something about my problem with this laptop. Perhaps for You it wouldn't be problem but I can't do that.
I can't finds drivers for Bridge Media Slot and for my “FN” function buttons ( I don't know how to call that buttons ware you have for example brightness of screen or turn on/off touch pad ). Also I wouldn't know how to install that if I would have to use drivers for win.
The would be all my problems with this laptop at the moment.
Thanks for any help and understanding that what I wrote. If I made really terrible mistakes in grammar or spelling please say that to txh for all

some slight spelling errors but it is very readable

i'd try first to go to the website of your manufacturer to see if they support linux, if they do theye will be sure to have a guide on what to do with them

if not things get a bit tougher, you might have to create a lay-out for yourself, or maybe you can try to manually set all the shortkey's to the desired action (like in KDE Control Center)

good luck!!

oh and welcome to the forum

thx
I look there, but I don't find that what I need-> there no drivers for Linux ..I expected that 'cause in my country this Laptop is available only with Win XP. It's look that I have to search that somewhere in net..or do just like you said do it myself.
In gnome is something like Control Center -> or install this to Gnome ?

there is no way of installing it under Gnome, there might be a similar tool but i don't know which it is, the KDE Control Center is just a large collection of tools that make things easier to handle, you could also switch to KDE if you'd like to use it

otherwise, use the helpfunction and look for keyboard shortcuts or something similar and assign them yourself

heh.. I found why this fnfx function doesn't work with my laptop...it's all because I have Phoenix BIOS.. so now I have to uninstall that thing, and do it different way.
It's a lot of interesting info here. Also I would stay and try help another users if I can.
Have a nice day

I have one more question why when I work on Battery under Fedora this battery it's working by 1.5h when under win I can work something about 4h? I hear about this ACPI, but i have installed this like one of the first thing. Maybe someone can explain me how to config that thing... I sure that it's because I really don't know how to use this :/
Sorry for stupid question..

well you have to set your fedora up for laptop use, that way it will use the ACPI functions to drop voltages when you are not using it, which in turn saves your battery-strength
