windows appear under gnome panel when desktop effect active

Since I activated desktop effects (compiz), all new windows are opened not taking into account the presence of the top gnome-panel.

In order to access the minimize/maximize/close buttons, it is necessary to move slightly the window by pressing alt and moving the window with the mouse.

Is there a workaround to force windows appearing entirely between the two gnome panels ?

Thanks
