How to disable network searching at boot time

Hi
i want my laptop with dual boot of windows xp and f7, now when i start my laptop then it takes a lot of time in determining the IP address for wireless adapter.

I am not always working with wireless network so i want when i need i am able to start this service but at startup it should not search for wireless and determine IP .

please help me on this issue.

Goto system ->administration ->network, highlight your wireless device and click "edit" uncheck the box for activate on boot, and make sure you add a check mark to the box for "allow users to enable/disable device" and save it....

i did the same but there is other problem apperead as follows:
[root@Escalation ~]# /etc/init.d/network restart
Shutting down interface Wired: [ OK ]
Shutting down loopback interface: [ OK ]
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface Wired: [ OK ]
Bringing up interface wlan0: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Input/output error
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Input/output error.
Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.

Determining IP information for wlan0...
failed.
[FAILED]
