Installation Problem on my HP Pavillion

Hello guys. I wanted to install Feodra 7 on my HP Pavillion DV9500, but the installation starts in text mode even if I select the graphical mode. That wouldn't be a problem, but after I select the language and keyboard layout, I get this error message:
---No driver found---

Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type.
Would you like to manually select your driver or use a driver disk?

The exact image is here .

I checked the media for errors, but it doesn't have any. On my old PC is installing normaly, even in the graphical mode.
My Hardware configuration is:
Manufacturer:
Hewlett-Packard
Processor:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory:
2046MB RAM
Hard Drive:
296 GB Total
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
And as an optical drive I have a DVD-Writer, with dual layer support and LightScribe.

I would try searching on your graphics card model on this forum. Some of the newer nvidia cards aren't recognized. The rest should be OK, but that's probably the reason for the installation's refusal to use graphics mode.

but what about the DVD?
Anyway, I found out that the DVD problem is a common one...So I kind of switched to Ubuntu. Installed fine, recognized my ethernet card. I only had a problem with the video card, but I switched to vesa to start the X and the updated the driver. As for the sound(I have a HD sound card), I'm still working on it.
I'm waiting for Fedora 8, maybe that will install fine, because I do like Fedora more than Ubuntu.

I'm not sure about the dual layer support in your DVD, but if you Google LightScribe and Linux, you'll find two 3rd party options. One is kind of a light version, but quick and the other does the whole image thing and of course takes forever.

Hell alex_bardasu,

If you haven't given up and gone completely over to Ubuntu, it might be worth a few minutes of your time to try an FTP or HTTP install if you are getting far enough with the installation to choose another installation type. Other people with your problem have done it. One recent example even reported that the DVD worked fine after installation with the FTP method.

If your PC is dual boot ,copy DVD iso in to fat32 parttion ,burn /images/boot.iso in to cd use it as boot CD

Select HD install , Use custom partitions during install

Hello all...

I am having the same issue, after alot of research i have came to the conclusion that Fedora doesnt support ICH8. Which sucks for me because I can not install Fedora on my laptop ( hp dv9500t (CTO) ) I have notice that there isnt drivers for it either. Let me know if there is hope for support in F8. Thanks....

Well the final release of Fedora 8 is supposedly only weeks away.

You could try installing the latest test release and see if the support for the device is there.

Simply copy your Fedora DVD image to your HD,
and during installation process, when it asks you "Where is the Fedora image or something like that..
Dont select your DVD Rom
Select hard disk directory (the one where u copied the IMAGE)..
it will run fine..
same problem was with me , when i was first installing it on my HP dv6000

Does it need to be on a NTFS/FAT32/ext2-3 filesystem when it is copied?

If you are referring to the "Hard Drive" alternative installation method using the ISO file, then the ISO file must be stored in a vfat, ext2, or ext3 partition. NTFS or LVM partitions will not work for this. You can read more about that in the Fedora 7 installation guide.

Well good news...

I have got it installed.... Working with KDE, and using my Sprint Broadband card... Didnt have to use the hard drive iso, because it couldnt find the display driver, so i installed it in text mode, its different way of installing but it does work.. If you have problems, i can help now.. Also, note you will have to do your own compiling of your kernel to get the display to work, or i can send you mine, if i knew how to. Also, be sure to have the latest kernel so that the wireless will work... Thats all i got for now...
