Xing Encoder for Banshee

I have tried to install xing mp3 encoder from banshee's site, but at ./configure, this is the error i got:

checking for GSTREAMER... configure: error: Package requirements (gstreamer-0.8 >= 0.8.11 gstreamer-plugins-0.8 >= 0.8.11) were not met.

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

I have installed banshee but i cant play any mp3s, it gives a missing plugin error.
please help, thanks!

Try yum install gstreamer-plugins-ugly and then try ./configure again.

Go to Mauriat Miranda's Fedora 7 Install Notes and find the section on configuring yum for extra repositories. Go through the process for adding the Livna repo and then try again.

Unhappy

Again, the same error:

./configure

checking for GSTREAMER... configure: error: Package requirements (gstreamer-0.8 >= 0.8.11
gstreamer-plugins-0.8 >= 0.8.11
) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively you may set the GSTREAMER_CFLAGS and GSTREAMER_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

Ok, im going to try the from the link you gave.
Ops, i forgot, im using fc6 btw

When you get to that same site there's links on the right side of the page. He also maintains a Fedora Core 6 setup page. To see if gstreamer-plugins-ugly is installed and what version it is open a terminal and type rpm -q gstreamer-plugins-ugly. If it's installed it will say so and give you version info.

Its not installed,
[root@hedkandi ~]# rpm -q gstreamer-plugins-ugly
package gstreamer-plugins-ugly is not installed

I've yum and install it. However, after doing ./configure i still got the same error.
[root@hedkandi gstreamer-xing-0.8]# ./configure

checking for GSTREAMER... configure: error: Package requirements (gstreamer-0.8 >= 0.8.11
gstreamer-plugins-0.8 >= 0.8.11
) were not met.

Something is wrong, i cant figure out what!

Im surprised at this, Banshee is actually playing my mp3s!
i think lame is encoding my songs.

Heres another problem that occured. I have 3 tarballs untar-ed to support ipod for banshee:
ipod-sharp-0.6.3
libipoddevice-0.5.3
njb-sharp-0.3.0

when i ./configure for njb, the error i received was:

checking for NJB... configure: error: Package requirements (libnjb >= 2.2.4) were not met:

No package 'libnjb' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables NJB_CFLAGS
and NJB_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I yum searched it but didnt get any hits.
p.s-im sorry im asking alot of Qs!

yum provides libnjb
rpm -q libnjb

You really need to explore the error message
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

There's a forum at the Banshee site with a few posts about configuration and build errors.

I've been looking at the Banshee web site. Dare I say that it appears Banshee hasn't been maintained for Fedora since FC5 ??
