Problem:
Port 80 is restricted.
system admin blocked all computers from using port 80

Question:
Can i make my fedora 7 browse the internet through a diffrent port.
Anything i dont really care, any port but 80.

i can still:
- talk on instant messengers, before it requests a file (display picture)
- download torrents
- ftp
- play playstation 3 online....kinda kinda :P

as you have noticed internet works as long as its not using port 80

-anyone know how i make my web browsing on something else other then port 80?
-btw i know this is a fedora forum, but if you randomly knew something about window XP, and how do this as well in WinXP that would be great.

You can browse on any port you want... the problem is that the web servers to which you connect would also need to be on that same port. Which they aren't... (unless we're talking 80 or 443)

If you can find a proxy server external to your network, that would work too.

Your hosed, they don't want you surfing the internet at work....If in fact they blocked port 80 you might want to check to see if they are running a proxy and change FF to use a proxy

You're not hosed. If you can ssh (port 22) to a machine outside of your network, then you can setup forwarding. There are many guides on how to do this. Search google for ssh forwarding.
