problem installing Fedora 7 on vmware

I am using Windows XP and i want to install fedora 7 on a virtual machine (Vmware workstation 6 ace manger).
I started booting from my DVD drive in vmware , I started the installation but when i came to partition of the drive I selected the "Create custom layout" it gave a error...

An error has occurred -no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems.Please check your hardware for cause of this problem.

specifications(virtual machine):---->
RAM:256
Hard Disk:8 GB

What OS did you select as the guest OS when you created the VM?

Can you boot into fedora's rescue mode? To do so (if you don't already know), boot to the installer splash screen and type: linux rescue

Once you get a command prompt, type:
cat /proc/parititions
lspci

let me know what it says.

You may want to try recreating the VM again, or selecting a different linux as the guest OS.

Try editing your drive in vmware from scsi to ide. you may have to just create a new drive.

Is this after you tried JN4OldSchool's suggestion?

This simply means that the installer is not detecting the virtual hard drive controller. Switching the virtual hard-drive on that VM from SCSI to IDE may help. I also might recommend you visit the VMware forums. There is a lot of useful info there for getting VMs running with various guest OS's
