Laptop

Hi,

I have got a hold of a HP Compaq EVO n800c. It has a mobile Pentium 4 1.8 GHz, 512 MB of ram and ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. It has the removable cd-rom and floppy drive. I only have the floppy drive so I'll have to do a network install.

I already have Dell XPS M1710 loaded but I would like a cheap laptop to bring to class that can do some programming and basic note taking. I also have a wireless card from Proximm the ORiNOCO 11a/b/g. Is this card supported well in Linux? Anyways do you think this is a good laptop?

Depends on the price. For what you plan to use it for it should be fine, so long as you wont need to be using a lot of cds/ mind carrying around the removable drive. If it is cheap go for it, but most of the newer laptops are only a couple hundred and come mounted with the cd drive, usually a gig of ram as well.
