Red face Help Newbie To Fedora

Hello Every One.
I'm a newbie to open source world.
I have installed Fedora 7 on my Pentium 4.
However my knowledgeof linux is Zero.
Plz tell me how to install extra softwares from tar.gz packages using terminal.

Before doing that have you checked to see if what you want is available in the Add/Remove Software menu entry?

Search for forum for livna and use yum, yum is your best friend.

Use tar as last resort if yum repos doesn't have it.

You should spend time reading FedoraFAQ(upper right of this webpage) and the HowToArctle on the main page of this forum.
