Complete server n00b...need some 101

Hello everyone, Ive installed Apache and ISPConfig on my fedora 7 machine and am wondering where I might find some references for configuring these apps. My intentions are to create a website (Im using text editor and html coding but Im sure there are easier ways to go about it), set up some web hosting for multimedia, and possibly link freeware applications for downloading. Eventually, and this is far in the future I would like to create a company profile website when I use it for my business. Pretty basic, right?

1. Will I able to create my own domain with the utilities currently in place, or will I need to purchase a domain and IP addy?

2. What other apps are required/recommended?

3. What references do I need to brush up on?

I am at the current point of reviewing the documentation on apache.org but Im not confident that I have successfully configured Apache, much less ISPConfig. Do I even need ISPConfig?

Thanks for the help in regards to the novice questions.
