The USB thumbdrive from hell!

I purchased a 2GB Kingston thumbdrive a week ago that was a good deal and works perfectly on Windows and Macs, but is as locked as a prison cell in Linux. I've tried it in many, many distros with no luck at all. I've tried repartitioning it with both GParted and cfdisk, and even used the Disk Utility on my Mac to try to format it. I've tried "Unix", Ext2, and FAT16 all with the same results.

So long story short, I really want to use this damn thing and can't. I plugged it into my Fedora laptop and received an error message. I then proceeded to once again partition it with GParted (received a freedesktop.HAL error at the end of partitioning), and voila, it works now!

Thanks Fedora!
