a particular mpg file get stuck every 1 minute exactly

I have a mpg video file that vlc 0.8.6c hangs on.
The sound continues just fine but the video freezes.
The odd thing is that it hangs exactly every 1 minute,
so if you started it at 0'0" it hangs at 1'17", then
you have to restart it. If you then move the
slider quickly to beyond 1.17, and play, it's
fine until it gets to 2'17" and does the same
thing.

I then downloaded mplayer 1.0-0.34rc1try2,
it does the same thing but at a slightly different
time position (11" after the minute). Has this file
probably been tampered with because I've never
seen a video file do this. Is there DRM in mpeg files
sometimes?

Marko

I have run into a number of screwy mpgs. The following seems to fix them.

ffmpeg -i input.file -sameq output.file

that sort of worked, the video plays the whole way through but the
sound track is out of sync. Any ideas how to keep them synced?
I also noticed the output.file is a lot bigger, is that normal?

I think you can get around the file growth thing, check the manual. It is normal for it to grow by 3-5X. IF it can read it(the original) avidemux2 can re-save it tooand does a very good job keeping sync.. I usually use ffmpeg when avidemux2 cannot handle it.
