Kernel Versions

I've currently using 2115, up2date suggests 2188. Where can I find out the reasons and benefits of the new kernel, before deciding whether or not it's worth risking the upgrade?

I've just had to reinstall as when I upgraded before I encountered a strange constant load on the system.

www.fedoranews.org
has security and news bulletins on the updated packages. The new kernel is mostly a lot of bug fixes and security patches.

if you first want to check that there are no problems with a kernel update just install it (no update)

rpm -ivh kernel-***.rpm

you can boot the new kernel through grub.
