Installing Oracle 9i on Fedora 7

Hi
I'm new to linux - trying to install Oracle 9i on Fedora 7
./runInstaller gives me the following error

/tmp/OraInstall2007-06-27_11-03-24AM/jre/bin/i386/native_threads/java: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

yum install libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 gave me

Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
fedora 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
primary.sqlite.bz2 100% |=========================| 3.8 MB 16:06
updates 100% |=========================| 1.9 kB 00:00
primary.sqlite.bz2 100% |=========================| 609 kB 03:30
Nothing to do

Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advance

libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is not a package but a linked library. You find those with `yum provides [libraryname]` command.

This one is part of libstdc++ that you can install with `yum install libstdc++`

Be warned you'll probably will have other problems after that especially because FC is not Oracle certfied platform.

I've successfully installed Oracle 10g on FC7 as per the instructions found at http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/...nOnFedora7.php

A similar approach is not working for Oracle 9i. (on a fresh installation of FC7)
I'm forced to stick to 9i because our ERP system provider insists on it.

I tried yum install libstdc++ unsuccessfully with the following

Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
fedora 100% |=========================| 2.1 kB 00:00
updates 100% |=========================| 1.9 kB 00:01
Nothing to do

Expecting your valuable suggestions

So you got it installed, next you need to find out where it is `locate libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2` and check where Oracle expects it and either change ora instalaltion script or add symlinks.
ADDED
Missed something: the Oracle is looking for libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 but FC6 already comes with libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 so you need to install older version of the library or try copying so.3 under new name and see what happens (you may end up in a mess though). I know from the fact that CentOS 4 (and RHEL 4) had correct versions (I got Oracle 9i installed and running on CentOS 4)
/ADDED

You're better off trying to find info at oracle-base.com either looking for installation instructions or asking in their forums than here tbh. Also consider changing to CentOS 5 that is RHEL 5 and therefore Oracle certified (not officially of course), makes it all lot easier and simpler.
