Acer Al1916W Display Problem

I'm new to Linux and when I was running Windows my display resolution was auto detected to 1449x900 and fit the screen perfectly.

Now, with Linux, I can't see the bottom taskbar and the resolution will not change to 1440 x 900 (it stays at 1680 x 1050) even if I set it manually. It says changes were made to xorg.conf and that I needed to restart X server. I did just that, but the display resolution won't change.

Did you make changes to your xorg.conf yourself or did you use a configuration tool? Maybe you could post the output of cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf so we can take a look.

xorg.conf

Edit: I found the problem.

All I had to do was open Terminal and input xrandr -s 1440x900.
