Upgrade from FC6 to FC7: Anaconda Error
When I try to upgrade my desktop PC from FC6 to FC7 by DVD, Anaconda stops after finding my current Fedora system with the following error message:
>Traceback (most recent call first):
> File "/usr/lib/anaconda/iw/upgrade_bootloader_gui.py", line 78, in _newToLibata
> if l.strip()[0] == "#":
> File "/usr/lib/anaconda/iw/upgrade_bootloader_gui.py", line 90, in getScreen
> newToLibata = self._newToLibata(anaconda.rootPath)
> File "/usr/lib/anaconda/gui.py", line 1131, in setScreen
> new_screen = self.currentWindow.getScreen(anaconda)
> File "/usr/lib/anaconda/gui.py", line 1042, in nextClicked
> self.setScreen ()
>IndexError: string index out of range
This was grafic mode, but it doesn't work in text mode either, I get a similar error message.
Who can help? What is the problem?
Thanks all
Aurel

Hi guys,
after some research in the anaconda scripts I found the problem myself:
Blank lines in "/etc/modprobe.conf". Anaconda does not like this, the script reading that config file has no protection against it. By the way: Comments with leading "#" are ok.
So I removed all blank lines and now the installation is just running fine on my desktop PC.
May be this can help others.
Best regards
Aurel
