Well I was waiting for the day. I'm a new linux user and I just can't stop trying to destroy my newly installed Fedora 7 OS. At the time I was doing several things so I'm not sure what caused the problem and like I said I'm a real newbie. While attempting to compile a program from source, I came across a dependency error involving libxml. After I was pretty sure I fixed it and the other problems affecting the configure process of this specific program, I attempted a make which ran into another problem with the libxml parser. I played around with stuff for a while and when I tried to go into yumex, it didn't load. Neither did the regular yum. After a reboot everything loaded up fine up until right after, I believe, init 5. Instead of going to the login screen it just displayed a black screen with the mouse loading symbol. It sounded like the hard drive was stuck trying the same thing over and over. After loading into a terminal I attempted to use yum to play around with libxml which produced an error. Anything I try to do with yum causes an error saying something involving
"Older version of yum sqlite"
I tried yum clean all, dbcache, metadata and such all of which did not affect yum.
So yeah, that's where I am. Sorry if I'm being vague about anything. Tell me what information you need and I'll be happy to try to get it to you. I appreciate any help, Thanks in advance.
