Cannot mount External USB Driver After Reboot

I have searched this forum and Google, but could not find a solution so I am posting here. I just installed Fedora 7. I have an external USB drive that mounted fine when the OS was already booted. However, when I leave the USB drive on and reboot, I cannot access the drive. The device file doesnt even exist in /dev. All that is in /dev is sda,sda1,sda2,sda3 which is my internal HD. If I power the external USB drive off, then back on, I can use Nautilus and see it there, then mount it. Then the device file /dev/sdb shows up.

My question is, how can I leave the external USB drive on, reboot the computer and access the drive without power cycling it?

Hello:
Just a suggestion as the auto-mount has been a little flakey so far in F7.
Make sure you have [system-config-services] Consolekit enabled and running, then allow your usb drive to mount.
Then under System/Preferences/Personal/Sessions/Session Options
select Save the current session

Then reboot and see if the usb drive is mounted again ?

Sorry, at the moment I cannot test this out here to see if it will work or not.

Doing a "modprobe usb-storage" after a reboot seems to get the system to recognize the USB drive again withouth power cycling it.
