Gnome/X Problem Please Help!!!

So today I come home from work to find my laptop off and lying on the floor. When I boot it up it goes into a disabled version of X. Don't know exactly what the problem is but the desktop is just plain blue with a terminal, firefox, and xclock in the upper right hand corner. I don't know how to get my regular gnome back! I have tried running system-config-display to no avail. I do recall seeing this before in a redhat training but can't for the life of me remember what the problem or the cause are. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know what logs you all need.

Fixed Problem

Thanks for the quick response... I found the answer finally after digging through some other posts. I must have deleted gnome-session via another update and didn't notice. I think I actually used your advice on another post and performed the following.

Code:
yum group install "GNOME Desktop Environment"
as root this did the trick.

Thanks again and sorry for wasting your time.
