Booting into the latest live CD! (solved)
Hi, I'm a total n00b who's just tried to boot into the live CD, but it's asking for a username & password? Hitting 'enter' doesn't work, any ideas
Thanks!

"fedora" should work. Keep in mind that linux distros are 'case-sensitive' , so just use lower-case, no caps. BTW, it's a great version; I think you'll really like it.

Got into the live CD no-prob's, liked it so much I downloaded Fedora 7 test 4 & installed! After an unhandled exception half way through, it installed GRUB (thankfully!). Just after the final config's it rebooted itself & now get 'kernel panic' every time. Luckily I'm able to boot into XP & write this.
Just as an aside, I've wasted over 8 DVD's trying to burn Fedora 6 - 7 etc. Every time I test the DVD, it gets about 11-13% of the way through before telling me the DVD failed its checks :-(

Your problem could be: 1). the media 2). the burner 3). the speed of the burn. Consider that thousands of others have done the download/burn/install without problems so that the most likely cause is something going wrong with your system or media. BTW, I installed Fedora7T4 from a CD yesterday without incident. Just for fun, see if you can grab a download from another machine, burn there and see if it works better for you.

Hmmm, have just installed openSUSE, then StartCom to see if I could burn/install ok. Might just wait until Fedora7 is out later next week & buy the DVD. Coming from a Gentoo/Sabayon background (still a n00b in Fedora), your help has made the switch very easy, thanks!
