DEFCON! Care for a nice game of chess Dr. Falken?

New multiplayer game with a linux client to boot.

Home page here

http://www.everybody-dies.com/

Get the Linux client here...

http://download.introversion.co.uk/d...n-v1.42.tar.gz

And from the review page....
"Defcon is a game for anyone who lay awake during the eighties paranoid about nuclear war. It poses the problem "what would I do in the case of nuclear war", and answers it thus: "boil". And indeed, the manual of Defcon and the load screens do go into astonishing detail about exactly how you'll die. The game doesn't really try to go for po-faced seriousness or irreverent gallows humour with the subject. It doesn't need to."

OK. I am still in the DL phase but wanted to share this. Have fun.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed to see that too, but not discouraged. Search "linux" in the forums. Was not too difficult to find it from there.

I found info on their Linux beta forum. It's the first release candidate, not yet final. Great find though and after a quick test runs like a dream.

I've been keeping eye on the EBD since it was published and Introversion made a promise that they'll release Linux version. It's a great company with great games

Defcon for Linux released now: http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/

For mere £10 it's worth buying (you also get Mac and Windows versions) if for no other reason, to show support for a company that actively supports Linux.

I been playing the windoze demo version for ages via something called 'steam'

The joys of launching your bombers at the enemy
the wonders as your fleets clash
the flashes as you realise you've forgotten to search for enemy ballistic missile subs
the shear pleasure of taking out his silos with your subs just after he started launching everything at you
ANd the utter terror as 60 mirvs come screaming towards your cities just minutes before yours turn the enemy's cities into plate glass
and finally the score

CPU player 1 killed 95.7 million people
You killed 97.5 million people

Boris

Ahhhhh MAD the only real way to fight a war
