Hello everyone!
First off, I would like to say that I am new to Linux. I have been web programming for a long time on Windows XP and didn't have any desire for Linux. After I started to realize how much of a pain it was to maintain XP as well as how inefficient XP was, I decided to switch to Linux. I decided to run Fedora Core 6 64-Bit.
I went ahead to install in a dual-boot environment, and GRUB is handling that task just fine. I can decide to boot XP or Fedora with ease.
After installing and booting for the first time, the first time booting up window came up. Agreements, Time Zones, Firewalls, User, Soundcard, etc. It all checked out fine. I then hit the finish button, and it gave me a blank screen. The videocard is putting out a signal, but it is all black. (If there would be no signal, the monitor would let me know). I went ahead turned off the computer and tried booting Fedora again, it booted, showing the graphical screen with the progress bar. When the progress bar reached then end, when Fedora is supposed to go to the Login screen, the screen is black again. Still a signal, just all black. Just before the screen goes black it does say " name_of_computer_i_chose_when_installing_XP login:"
So obviously that is a problem...Would someone please help me? I am running on an AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2 GB RAM, and using an ATI X800 GTO video card.
Thank you,
chaloobe
