esound issues

im currently running Fedora Core 2 Test 1 but have updated it and kept it current with rawhide so it is more or less Test 3. My problem is though while oss emulation works fine and straight alsa also work I am unable to use esound. I get an error about unix sockets (sorry not at my desktop) and im unable to play and sounds with esound. Short of a complete reinstall is there a way to fix this?
