Re: Send Fedora Your Hardware Profile (Read the initial post first!)

Yes, I have the settings installed. The workaround does and have both my monitors up and running no like I want. Thanks for the help. I have realized I had to use the terminal like said. It will bring up the nvidia settings in the root account for me to make the changes and save to the xconfig file. I realized that when I was bringing up the nvidia settings window using the gui on my account I was using it the local user and not the root. So, thanks for the help I do appreciate it. Now I know what to do in the future.

Now onto my next quandary, my scanner. I have tried to use the backend provided but when I tried install the core package, iscan-2.26.2-1x86_64.rpm. But I an error message stating that I needed the libltdl.so.3()(64-bit). I have already installed the datat package iscan-data-1.8.0-0.noarch.rpm. I have also installed firmware iscan-firmwar-2.25.1-1.fc14(noarch), but I am still having issues with core package not being installed.

What should I do next? Did I instll the package in the wrong order?

I have found a thread with somebody else having problems with there epson flatbed scanner also. There has been a bug filed for it, I wonder if this isn't the problem that I am having with getting mine installed in the first place. Here is the thread http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...ghlight=avasys Also, how do I look up a bug report?

[root@localhost bigT]# nvidia-xconfig

Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".
Backed up file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' as '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'
New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'

[root@localhost bigT]#
Try "su -" instead of just "su"

the "dash" pulls in the root's environment, it's possible nvidia-xconfig can't run properly without the root environment

Re: Send Fedora Your Hardware Profile (Read the initial post first!)

First, I will have to apologize for this being a reply, but I couldn't find a new thread button on the page.
My problem is that i have fc15 running on a Toshiba laptop ( I sent the profile at the end of installation), and when I plug in a USB backup storage device, on which I have files I want to transfer, I can't view the contents. When I open up the "dev" folder in Nautilus and go to the usb folder the system complains that I don't have an application that will read a block character device. It gives me an option to search for such an app to install, which I check, and then it tells me that it can't find one.
Isn't there an app that will graphically open and explore usb or other attached devices? Gnome says they have a Gnome Disk Mounter, but I can't get YUM to install (find) it.
lsusb lists the device as being on bus 001 device 003.:

Uhh, ignore my last post - I found the new thread button at hardware. I hadn't registered when I had first opened the page. Sorry...

Exclamation Re: Send Fedora Your Hardware Profile (Read the initial post first!)

After some looking, apparently the Smolt project has been deprecated. It is also no longer in the Fedora Project.

http://smolt.fedoraproject.org/

"Smolt has been retired"

Fedora 17 is apparently the last version to support Smolt. There is a successor, however, being developed--the Census project.

https://fedorahosted.org/census/

I would reccomend a new thread being created and/or this thread to be un-stickied from the forum.

Thanks.
