Failed No Link Present on wireless....

Hi everyone, first time I have posted on here so please be gentle

I have managed to install a Dell Wireless 1390 card into Fedora with ndiswrapper. When I go into Administration: Network: the name of the device is shown (correctly) and there is tick icon to activate the connection. I have entered the correct details (SSID, WEP Key, Channel etc) but when I try to activate the connection all I get is 'Failed No Link Present' error. I use KDE and all the other info on the Net refers to Gnome although none of them provide a solution anyway.

I don't know where to start with this problem because everything else seems pretty straight forward and there aren't anymore configuration panels to change.

Any help would be much appreciated

thanks guys.

The error indicates it is trying to load module eth1, which obviously doesn't exist. Usually people have aliases for this in /etc/modules.conf like this:

Code:

alias eth1 ne2k-pci

Where ne2k-pci should of course be replaced by the name of the module for your network card.

But it's strange that things suddenly stopped working. Are you sure you didn't add another network card or have a built in card conflicting with the other? That would maybe have moved the Dell Wireless 1390 one to eth1. If this is the case, you should be able to find an alias for eth0 in /etc/modules.conf and all you need to do then is replace eth0 with eth1.

Also this may be caused by a bugfix for Fedora that was sent through an update
