automatic log on.

Can anyone tell me how to enable Automatic log on in FC6,ticked Automatic log on box in Login screen and entered User name,but still no go.Help notes said something about Pam,but I'm afraid that's all Greek to me,
would appreciate any help.

does the user exist? did you go to the Users tab and select "include all users"? you can directly edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf and add these settings in the [daemon] section

(username cannot be root)

System --> Administration --> Login Screen.
Hit the "Users" tab and check the box that says "Include all users from /etc/passwd".
Hit the "Security" tab and check the box that says "Enable Automatic Login", then the down arrow to select your user.
