Troubles Installing

Hello again.

I was trying to install SoulSeek, when i star to get in a lot of troubles. First, I enter a Web site that explains how to install soulseek, in the Web Site (http://www.sensi.org/~ak/pyslsk/) said that if I want to run SoulSeek, I need to down load first:

Gtk +1.2
Python 2.2 or newer
wxPythonGtk 2.6.0

I download first the Gtk + 1.2
But then i need to download:
Gtk + Source
Glib Source
Pango Source

The way I install this was by first, log in as root, the with Make then make install and then make clean I install the three programs
then I download Python 2.5 compressed source tarball
I install it, whit "python setup.py install"

Then I download wxPythonGtk 2.6.0. But in the Site they tell me to download Mesa3D and PyOpenGL, I download and install Mesa3D and to install PyOpenGLContext 2.0.0c1 Ihave to download

Python Imagine Library
Numeric Python
and Glut 3.7+ <<<--- This I couldn't install it

then I istall wxPYthonGtk
And FINALLY i download pyslsk-1.2.7b.tar.gz. But I donn't know it is weel installed or how to execute Please Help

By the way I am working in FC6

All the programs witch I download have de extension tar.gz and .tgz

One of my questions are

How I know that the software is installed rigth?
How do I execute Soulseek?
Which is the difference by downloading and istalling RMP files or tar.gz files or tgz?

Thanx

You are doing this in a completely wrong way! You're running Fedora Core, not Linux From Scratch. All the packages required to install pysoulseek are available from Fedora Core and Extras as RPMs and simply installable by yum.
By installing packages from .tar.gz source packages you are bypassing the Fedora package management system. This can lead to many problems, especially when you are replacing essential packages like Python or GTK.
