How to force LCD to 72 Hz in KDE?

I'm not sure if this is a software issue or a hardware issue, so please bear with me.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 940B monitor. It is capable of a 72 Hz refresh rate. When I boot into GNOME, the system reports that it is running at 72 Hz - in fact, it gives me the choice of running at either 60 Hz or 72 Hz. However, when I boot into KDE, I'm only given the option to run at 60 Hz.

How on Earth do I get KDE to give me the 72 Hz option?
