Missing Dependency: xine-lib = 1.1.4 is needed by package xine-lib-moles

FC6 once again, yum update error when I run update.

this update is via freshrpms, I do not have any conflicting repo running

Right, there was an update of xine-lib to 1.1.5 and freshrpms needed a couple of days to play 'catch up' with xine-lib-moles from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5. I was able to update two machines this morning, it might take a short while for all servers to get in sync.

Sorry folks, I just cannot resist.

[atrpms]
name=Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - ATrpms

gpgkey=http://ATrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY.atrpms
gpgcheck=0

I can't remember where the hell this keeps using a cached copy with gpgcheck = 1.....

Yea I accidentally post the topic where it should not go... due to trouble shooting this issue for hours staying up late things like this happen now and again, take a pill and breath if it bothers you, mistakes happen

Thanks for the info, I 'm getting fed up with FC and will soon switch to something else

Hi Seve,

xine-lib-moles is only from freshrpms. The livna equivalent is xine-lib-extras-nonfree. There was an update in Fedora Extras a couple of days ago of xine-lib and xine-lib-extras from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5 but it took freshrpms until now to build a corresponding xine-lib-moles-1.1.5 RPM. That's why the OP (and myself) was getting the dependency error. Removing xine-lib-moles would have allowed xine-lib to be updated but we would have been without the extra codecs in 'moles'

Hello Wayne:
You are absolutely correct, as always

I guess my previous post was a little cryptic ...... as it was more or less directed at the poster and his / her previous post behaviour.
I'm sure he / she is a nice person ... and then again it may be just me, but I just don't understand this type of attitude from folks that are ...... asking for help.

And to boot, come right back with the apparent mindset that it just does not matter.

Hi Seve,

I didn't read the thread you linked to, although I did see it in the list. I tend to stay away from ATRPMs for the reasons given elsewhere. Although, I do admit to using two of their RPMs:

gspcav1.i386 1.00.12-3.fc6.at installed
gspcav1-kmdl-2.6.20-1.2944.fc6.i686 1.00.12-3.fc6.at installed

But I download and install them locally rather than setting up the repo info. I hope the OP learns quickly that having conflicting repos set-up could result in a borked system!

Hello Wayne:
Absolutely nothing wrong with using their rpm packages, of which a lot are very handy and work great.
The issue seems to be when one has them enabled all the time and one does a blind yum -y update
Which, by the way I am guilty of doing in the past

I actually have a couple of packages installed from those folks at the moment as well.

Hi Seve,

Yep, the two packages I have work fine but as you say, caution is very much in order! I try not to use the '-y' option when updating, I always like to review the package list before installing but sometimes the fingers work quicker than the brain-cell
