installing printer via samba

I was wondering if anybody could give me any help on installing a printer on a windows system through samba. I have samba up and running and have cups intallled too just need to know what steps I need to take in cups and what do I need to provide when ask in cups installing samba via windows. The printer is on my wndow xp machine.

I believe this how-to by Firewing1 should help you get it up and running. Shared printing: Linux to Mac OS X, Windows and of course other Linux boxes!

I'm getting this error in console when going through the gui setting printer up windows printer via samba. I can see my localhost computer and the printer on it when I click on that printer it gives me a error


Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-printer/system-config-printer.py", line 2077, in on_tvSMBBrowser_cursor_changed
group = store.get_value (domain_iter, 0)
TypeError: iter must be a GtkTreeIter

Hello:
What version of FC do you have and have you updated your system ?
If it is FC6 then have a look at this bug : Bugzilla
If it is the same issue that you have and it looks that way to me at a quick scan, you may have to wait a few days for a resolution.
