In case you didn't know you can install thunderbird 2.0 through the remi repository http://remi.collet.free.fr.

Any idea why thunderbird shows up as an install rather than an update?

I used remi to update Firefox from 1.5x to 2.0x but thunderbird2 seems like a seperate app from thunderbird-1.5.

Can they co-exist? (I'd hate to remove 1.5 and not like 2 and have to reinstall 1.5)

I added it simply by downloading the package (pretty slow, BTW) and then 'yum localinstall *.rpm' which added it to the menu and picked up all my messages from the 1.5 and all addresses. No problems having both apparently, since I've tried both versions after the install and all's okay. In effect, it's a bit like having Firefox 2.0 and Gran Paradiso at the same time, which also works fine.
